Database Mail Error

    I configured database email for all my servers giving the same smtp server but one of the server is not sending emails successfully which i recetnly confugred.

    when i try to send test email it satys in the queue but when checked in the view sysmail_event_log i see this error message.

    The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2009-10-26T12:27:44). Exception Message: Could not connect to mail server. (A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 174.21.10.12:25). )

    how can i troubleshoot this.

    sounds kind of like a DNS error more than anything; from that server in question can you ping 174.21.10.12?

    Be sure to check Anti-virus. I have a blog post about this, http://wiseman-wiseguy.blogspot.com/2009/07/mystery-of-failing-database-mail.html. Different error message, but worth a look.
