We're in the process of migrating a lot of our stuff to our servers in house. I know the next question is "What to do with it" and I'd like to have a clue. We're going to be working with a consulting team, but I'd like to understand why they do things and what it all means before they get here in Feb, so I figured I'd read a bit 🙂
any suggestions for DW Fundamentals?

As far as Data Warehousing goes anything by Ralph Kimball or the Kimball Group is great content. There is the Data Warehouse Toolkit, ETL Toolkit, Webhouse Toolkit, Lifecycle Toolkit, etc.
You can also refer to this link for some additional resources:

There is a great IBM data warehouse book that I have referred to when working on data warehouse projects as a consultant. It's available in a soft copy.
The name is "Dimensional Modeling: In a business intelligence environment"
