Since the massive 10/14/2009 Microsoft Patch Update, my SSMS 2008 has been getting this error whenever I try to open up any solutions:
"The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference."
I do have 2005 loaded also. From google, I found that others with both installed are having the same problem. (http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=390966)
My question is: does anyone know how to unbreak this without having to resort to doing a repair of the installation?
Thanks!

Reapply Service Pack 1 to SSMS 2008. There is a DLL from 2005 that was reregistered during the updates that is causing the issue. Running SP1 for 2008 against the tools only generally fixes the problem.

When I try reapplying the SP, after a few steps it informs me that there is nothing to upgrade, and I can't proceed. Is there a way to force it to reapply?

Does anyone know the answer to this? I would love to reapply the SP to fix this annoying problem. Please help!
