Hi Folks
when I am working in SMS on my SQL Server 2005 server and occassionally I will get this message when I am saving mods to a Maint Plan.
Is there anyway to find out just what is causing this pop-uip and is it something that I need to look into. It lasts about 3-5 seconds and then goes away.
"SQL Server Management Studio is busy waiting for an internal operation.
If you regularly encounter this delay under normal useage, please
report this problem to Microsoft."
Thanks

Usually means that ssms is waiting for the server to respond. It is not, in and of itself, a problem.

I have also seen it when the "My Documents" folder for the user's profile is on an Offline Folder such as the users network home directory.

It happens when SSMS is autosaving a file and your My Documents folder is remote or off-line.

Hi Steve
well I am directly on the server via a remote desktop connection running sms. I am not remote so I am not sure.
Thanks

Even in this case, the SSMS may be trying to auto-save to a non-local location. You'll have to look into the options to see where the autosave location is.
