    How would i grant show plan permissions to non dbo by default on all the databases in the server. I understand these are dataabase level permissions but i dont want to grant this access to a user every time there is a new database.

    you can grant showplan permissions to public in model database.

    If a database is created then all users by default will be having permissions to view showplan.

    If a database is restored in that case if permissions are granted then that is fine, if not then you have grant permissions to public in restored database explicitly.
