moving from simple recovery model to full recovery model

  • just wondering if there will be any data loss in switching from simple recovery model to full recovery model? server sql 2005, production server.

  • There will be no data loss but you should immediately take a full back up after you make the switch and then configure your transaction log backups.

  • No downside, but you will need to get a full backup and configure t-log backups. If you don't start backing up the t-logs - they will grow and can create havoc down the road.
