Where are you?

  • This is more curiosity than anything else . . .

In perusing these forums, I'm noticing a great deal of geographic diversity (which I think is a great thing)! I've seen post from at least three people from South Africa. I know there are people in Colorado, South Florida, Chicago, etc. I, myself, am in upstate New York (Albany area, 150 miles north of NYC).

So, just wondering, an informal poll: where do you hail from?

Yes, we have electricity and internet (most of the time), we don't ride elephants and lions don't wander the streets.

South Africa.. that looks wild and completely unknown to be, how's the weather there? Must be completely different from here, in Canada!

I thought the savanna lions were hunters around there, guess I will have to go there sometimes!

    Cheers,

ROFL When my dad moved out to Colorado from New Jersey in the mid 50's, relatives back there thought people still rode horses, carried pistols everywhere and still fought indians.

Anywhere in particular in Canada? Canada is a pretty big place itself.

Like we Canadians live in Igloos? Yeah, I know the feeling. I always think it's so funny that people from the South (The US folks, *cough* :)) Think we don't have roads, live in igloos, hunt seals with harpoons, and dance around a fire at night! (which is not always untrue, but just for fun ;))

    Cheers,

I'm from Quebec, Montreal. But I used to live 100 miles north of Montreal. I moved for the job, because the internet does not reach smaller villages! 😉

Only thought that was true of those living in the Northwest Territories. :w00t:

But, after watching Ice Road Truckers, I have learned differently. 😉

You make it sound so boring! Definitely not a travel brochure writer. 🙂

How about something more along the lines of: "South Africa! The southern tip of the Birthplace of Humanity! We have the Internet AND elephants and lions! (Don't ride the lions, and the elephants are only allowed in certain areas of the streets. Some restrictions apply. Side effects of using the Internet while riding an African elephant can include being trampled or gored.)"

(This completely ignores that rideable elephants are Asian, and the African ones aren't really domesticated that way. But marketing and reality can usually only be matched with a full outer join.)
