We have an IT director that reminisces as a child playing with her T-Rex.
Ok she is old, she also doesn't have a clue. The network group uses IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Server and SQL backups.
In mid-July our db app experienced a problem and had to revert. But unbeknown to us Tivoli failed that week.
I asked her to include us on the notification list of backups. She seemed hesitate and then said 'there are no email notifications with our version'.
Hmmm.... :angry:
Not buying it wonder if anyone out there uses version 5.3.4 and if you do, can directly provide me the path to where to setup notifications in the admin console.

Don't use it myself, but did you think to ask her how she recieves notification of a successfull or failure of a backup?

Oh that's the kicker...they assign someone to review each job every day...yeah...chew on that again...my mouth was still on the floor

I see you have posted on the IBM sites as well 😛 with no replies....
I dont buy it either, we used tivoli at a previous client and that had email notification, but I do not have the version.

You saw that huh? No answer on that board either...neither in the product white paper or specifications...it is like the biggest kept secret.

Luckily we had our own backup procedure outside of the server/file backup and was able to restore to the correct point in time...
