Hello All,
We are in the process of Setting up the 4 NOde ACTIVE/ACTIVE/ACTIVE/ACTIVE Cluster.
This is for the Data Warehouse Solution.
I am considering the below two options:-
1. 4 SQL server instances one running per node but with affinity matrix i.e. instance 1 will run on node 1 but failover to 2,3 & 4 in that order. Similalry for Instance 2 will run on 2 but fail over to 3,4,1 in that order and so on so forth.
2. I can have 2 instances for node with it’s passive counterpart on another node
e.g. AB-Active & CD-Passive on node 1, AB-Passive & CD-Active on node 2 and so on so forth.
Which one is the best possible configuration?
How many IP address will be reuired for the 4 SQL Server Instances?
Please do let me know.
Any material/documentation for setting up the 4 Node cluster will be really helpfull...!!!!!

The configuration depends or your business rules and service level agreement.

One IP address is needed for MS Cluster, one IP is needed by instance (4 IP's are needed).
Review this article about how built the four node cluster.
