What is the difference between DTS and SSIS 2005?

DTS is a depracated technology in SQL 2005/2008, I wouldn't expect them to continue to support it too much longer..
SSIS has a much more logical seperation between control flow and data movement.
Shared connection definitions at the project level.
Lots of control flow and data flow components to choose from.
Error pipelines in the data flow where you can shunt records that fail in a particular component..
