Hello,
I wanted to get some input on purchase we are going to make for our sql 2008 data warehouse.
We are looking into getting a server with Raid1 and Raid10 configuration.
Raid1 -> OS & log files
Raid10 -> Data file and tempdb
we were hoping to get a Raid1, Raid1, Raid10 and separate put the log files on its own Raid1. But due to server space limitations we are planning to go with the Raid1 and Raid10. I understand that we might suffer a some peformance hit by putting the OS and logs on one raid, but since this is a data warehouse system with not a lot of I/O I feel we might be good.
Can anyone provide some feedback. :discuss:
Thanks

Your logic makes sense to me. You might some slowdowns on loads, but most likely the R10 will help your queries (reads) and the logs with the OS won't slow down the load too much.
Where do backups go?
