When i execute a SSIS package i see pkg status in the Progress tab, is there a way i can save that log to some table or file ?

Yes you can do

But can a non DBA do this ?

Open/Edit your SSIS Package,
Right click in the Control Flow in the Design Mode and select Logging.
You need to enable logging at the Package Level.

Sorry forgot to answer about NON-DBA to be able to doing it.
If you edit your package and incorporate this logging you need not do anything, as the SSIS Packages execute the logging is done at run time.
