SQL Server Developer Edition and Reporting Services

  • Hi People. I have been reading up on Reporting Services and want to try setting up some Report Formats. The texts say RS has to be installed first, say nothing about how this is done. Can somebody please give me a clue on this.

  • You can install it from your installation media. It is a part of the initial SQL Server setup. It must be selected in order to be installed.

  • Thanks Jason. I tried installing the REporting Services Component from my Dev Edition CD but it was not listed among the Components. So I cancelled out of it, since I have several databases attached to the installed instance and didn't want to jeopardise them.

(I hadn't backed up before trying it) Will try again later.

I have another Dev Edition Package and will see what it does for me.

    Will let you know.

  • Thanks. Do let us know what you find out with it.

  • What OS is on the box? If its XP then it has to be XP Pro so that you can run IIS, but I think it should tell you that.
