Recommended books for transact sql programming in a Sql Server 2005 environment

  • Hello,

I really had my heart set on buying Ken Henderson's, The Guru's Guide to Transact-SQL. But from the current reviews I'm seeing, DBAs and programmers in the field seem to think that this book is dated.

Can anyone recommend a good book to transact SQL programming in a Sql Server 2005 environment? I'm hoping to find a book w/ copious basic transact sql programming examples (i.e. pivot function, basic queries/subqueries, delegating user permissions for a schema, etc.).

    Thanks.

    Regards,

  • The best straight T-SQL book out there, in my opinion, is Itzik Ben-Gan's Inside T-SQL Querying. Fantastic. It should do most of what you need.
