SQL Server 2000 RTM

  • Hi in my production enviroment i have some machines with SQL Server 2000 RTM installed.

I this that this is very bad.

Can someone tell me what is SQL Srver RTM?

Can i aplly service packs to this engines? i have read it's not good to apply service packs to a SQL Server RTM.

    Thank you

  • "RTM" means "Release to Manufacturing". It's generally the first publicly available version of the software. You can and should apply service pack 4 to it if you intend to use keep using SQL 2000. It's the latest service pack and the only one still available.

I've never heard that it's a bad idea to apply SPs to RTM releases. How else would it get beyond RTM?

    Greg
