I have been doing the DBA thing for some time now, but until my most recent gig have never been exposed to Full Text Search. We are implementing SharePoint and it is my understanding that it is a required piece. Anyone have any good resources I can refer to regarding Full Text? Obviously I am concerned about performance and what I actually need to do/worry about from an administrative perspective. Any insight would be appreciated.

Best bet is to just do some searches on this forum/website. There's lots of hands-on experience with full text right at your fingertips.
A few quick things to consider:
full text indexes need to be maintained similar to table indexes.
full text indexing happens outside of SQL Server (kind of) so you need to make sure you reserve some memory for it.
Learn about stop words and full text search limitations.
