Hello,
I am a bit confused here. We have an application called Kronos. I was told in order to edit reports in Kronos, that I needed to upgrade to VS2008 so that I could edit the rdl.
I did that. Took forever. I installed VS 2008 on top of VS VS 2005 (in place installation). Now I have VS 2008. However, the reporting application is a VB MDI (looks like to me). The other option is a Crystal Reports option. I don't see a option for SSRS.
I went to the SQL Server BI Dev and VS 2005 opened up. Now if SSRS only comes with the version of SQL Server that you are using (2005), I guess I am supposed to get SQL Server 2008 in order to get SSRS 2008?
Tony
Things will work out. Get back up, change some parameters and recode.

If you want SSRS 2008, you need SQL 2008.

Reporting Services (and Analysis Services and Integration Services) are parts of the SQL Server platform. They come for free, but you have to buy and install a SQL Server license.

Thank you.
The Kronos consultant was mistaken. I was told to load VS 2008. But I see that I also need SQL Server 2008.
Thanks again.

You should also validate that you are in fact running SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services for Kronos. If you are actually running SQL Server 2005 - using 2008 and trying to publish the reports to a 2005 instance is not going to work.
