I have developed a SSRS report with an image. I can view the image in Visual Studio; however, I cannot view the image in the report after it's published to the report server (i.e. if I go to the URL of the report, the picture is displayed as an "X".) I've tried adding the picture as an embedded picture, and also as a project resource.
When added as a project resource, the image does appear in Management Studio when connected to Reporting Services. However, when I try to right click it and "open resource", it displays an "X" instead of the picture. Any ideas?

This generally relates to either Bitmap or JPEG and size of the file because if you change to GIF it will get displayed. And I am assuming you know that such reports needs to be deployed by coping all files including images and the Visual Studio solution files to report manager.
I have created a report with 14 images it takes careful sizing but it usually works.

Thanks for replying. That's interesting. I did try a smaller .gif image and it worked. Interesting - so there's no way around this size limit? The image I'm using is a high-quality version of our company logo. We also have Crystal Reports XI, and I was able to use the same image on their report server, so I decided to use Crystal Reports for this project.

It is generally easy to use GIF so if you are having sizing problem with GIF that may be related to resolution. I have not used Crystal Report for a while good to know the difference. My experience is Bitmap and PNG are generally hard to use while JPEG and GIF will work depending on file size.
