As Jack of all Trades, I prefer all genres of music at the console, not just rock.
Man in the Cubical (Alice in Chains)
Welcome to TSQL (Brian Burns)
You Can't Take the Hacker out of the DBA (Brooks and Dunn)
Code Removal Machine (The Cult)
Vampire CRL (Deaf Pedestrians)
Pour Some SQL on Me (Def Leppard)
Turn it on, Tune it up, Turn Me Loose (Dwight Yoakham)
Without Me (Eminem)
Would I Lie to You? (Eurythmics)
My Wildest Schemas Grow Wilder Every Day (Flatlanders)
My Favorite Scripts (John Coltrane)
Computerlove (Kraftwerk)
The Breakpoints (Kurtis Blow)
SSISmar (Led Zepplin)
Three Spreadsheets to the Wind (Mark David Manders)
Ain't Workin' Late Tonite (Max Stalling)
Push The Button (Newcleus)
What's the Password, Kenneth? (REM)
SQL Freak (Rick James)
Money's Too Tight (Simply Red)

Even if you don't put a database or SQL slant on it, it's still appropriate...

Van Morrison Brown eyed girl
Marvin Gaye What's Going on

The first two are last year grammies. My taste is all over the place.

What about DBA's Delight?

Someone needs to put together a QOD.
Although you could catch a DBA listening to any of these, which is a actual song performed by the listed artist?

I can think of a few that I'd recommend:
SSISudio - Phil Collins
B-Trees - Rush
Mean Mr. Clustered - The Beatles
OLE Driver - Dio

For me it's just about anything except opera. I have never enjoyed opera. (Note: the music not the software).
I currently have Peter Frampton's Fingerprints CD playing.

Some songs on my PC. Without title-alterations: not just for the DBA
Lock and key - Rush
Careful with That Axe, Eugene - Pink Floyd (advice for a disgruntled user)
Leave no trace - Anathema
Ghost In The Firewall - Arena
Climbing The Net - Arena
Frame by frame - King Crimson
This is no rehearsal - Porcupine Tree
Strange machines - The Gathering

Really depends on my mood.
I prefer Trance and Progressive dance music; I dislike techno, which is a specific genre of dance music, so stop lumping all dance music under "techno" 😛
But then I might also switch to some Aerosmith, Nina Simone, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, classical music or maybe even something from the 40's or 70's.
However, you will never catch me listening to modern R&B or Hip Hop.

Beautiful Day(ta). For when it is working.
Still haven't found what I'm looking for. For when it isn't working and you don't know why.
Running to stand still.
