HI FRIENDS NEED HELP CAN ANYBADY SUGGEST ME ABOUT SQL SERVER DESIGN AND CONFIGARATION .
1. CONCURRENT USERS FOR SERVER IS 1500 TO 2000.
2. DATADBASE SIZE IS 3 T.B
I AM USEING SQL SERVER 2005, CAN I USE SINGLE SERVER AND ALLOWE ALL USERS TO SERVER OR CAN I USE MULTIPUL SERVERS
PLZ SUGGEST ME

It's going to depend almost completely on what kind of service you are providing with that.
For example, it's a big difference if most of those 1500-2000 concurrent users are constantly adding, updating, deleting and querying small batches of data in hundreds of tables, or if they are mostly viewing reports of pre-aggregated/compiled data from a few large tables.
Amazon.com and MSNBC.msn.com are both high-user-traffic sites, both are based on databases of one sort or another, but I guarantee they have very, very different database server needs.

I would think, in that case, that a powerful enough server could keep up with it. Have you tried load-testing to see what kind of hardware load that will create?
