RAM Usage of 32-bit SQL Server on 64-bit Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

    Hi,

    We are using SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition 32-bit on Windows Server 2003 (x64) 64 bit Operating System.

    Server has 10 GB RAM.

    What steps do I have to follow in order to use 8GB of memory for sql server?

    I modified the max server memory option through sp_configure, but the server does not use more than 3.5 GB of memory.

    I don't think you should enable AWE for a 64 bit environment.

    and I also I would like to ask was there any memory pressure on your SQL server? Why are you enabling AWE?

    Keep in mind that I'm using 32 bit version on SQL server 2005, and as I know 32 bit version can't use more than 4 GB of memory without using awe enabled option.
