As i am new to SQL, i need to take the backup for four times in a day, as per this what i have to do , any links , how can i shedule ...

You maintenance plan to run backups, there you can specify the interval of the backups.

I recommend figuring out your backup and recovery stategy before creating the backups themselves. See BOL http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191239(SQL.90).aspx

Hi all
i can sechudule the back up for sql server 2005, but i can t.
but in my local server , i have sql 2005, & sql 2008 ,
is that make any difference in the same .

i dont think i understand ur last post properly but what is the error u're getting in creating a maintainance plan for backup? or writing a plain job with backup query as a part of job?
Also i hope you have a backup strategy in place as pointed out rightly by Greg.

Are you sure you have the right permissions on the SQL instance(s)?
