Hi, I've re-installed the management tools for sql server 2005 std ed. due to some sort of corruption and was wondering if I need to apply sp2 again? I'm getting an error:
Unable to cast object of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.simpleobjectkey' to type...
I'm ts'd on the server itself and the results of @@version show that I have sp2.
thanks

What version number do you see when you click Help-->About under management studio?

I believe that you need to apply the SP again, yes.

SP3 has also published for 2005 by microsoft.
try applying it.
Also if you are going again with sp2 then initially uninstall sp2 and client tools and then apply fresh patches

Mark Thornton (2/2/2009)
it shows that I have 9.00.1399.00
That's not SP2 for client components.
