  i've sql server 2000 developer and i want to install sql server 2005 standard into it.

  my question is: can i downgrade the sql server 2000 developer into

  sql server 2000 standard?

  No, you need to uninstall the developer edition and then install Standard.

  As an alternative you could install a new instance using the standard edition.
