hi to everyone. im having a problem with sql server express 2005. my wireless connection is active and connected and so as my LAN. when i try to access the database engine on my server i cannot connect since two connections are active. when i disabled the wireless network, and using my lan, i can connect to the database engine. my wireless connection uses different ip from my lan. im using the wireless for internet connection while the lan, i use it for local use.. can someone help? tnx

THis is not an issue of Sql Server....
It relates to network. Once you're on your wireless network, you wont be able to connect to your LAN or access other machines on network.
I dont know the solution though, as i face similar issues..

fyi:... before, my OS was windows vista ultimate. both wireless and LAN are connected. wireless used for internet and LAN used on local connection in the office.. i can connect to the database engine. when i switched OS from vista to XP. this crap happens. also i can access the network on my lan eventhough i'm on my wireless

Hmmmm. I've XP SP2 on my laptop and it wont allow me to use my LAN resources when i'm on wireless network (i am unable to even ping other resources).....

It seems as there is some network problem. Try to use your Server's static IP address and not Dyamic IP address. It may connect to the server. Again check the IPAll configuration setting of TCP/IP part setting of you Express machine and Server machine

yup tried that. my LAN uses a static IP. while the wireless connection uses dhcp.

I think he meant try connecting to the database instance by using the IP address instead of the name of the server. i.e. if you would be connecting to server/sqlexpress try x.x.x.x/sqlexpress. You might just not be able to resolve the server name from your home machine, but you might still be able to access it. I have to do that quite a bit.
