adding features to 2008 cluster

  • We've just installed sql 2008 two node cluster on win 2003, but Management Studio got missed out.

Trying to add this in as an extra feature - much like you'd add reporting services etc - and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this for a cluster?

I get to the Installation Rules list and it consistently fails on

'Exisiting Clustered or cluster-prepared instance'- i.e. the installation is already clustered, so you can't do it again!

HOw do I get around this one?

OK, solved. Don't look at it as adding to the current, but adding a new installation. Hummm.

  • had the same error

  • SSMS is not a clustered tool.

Trying using the "Install a Standalone" and just choosing SSMS in the shared feature group.
