I have a SQL 2000 (version 8.00.2039 intel x86 Enterprise edition, build 3790: sp2) server.
I have a problem with my auto-grow parameters changing, all by themselves.
On my database properties "Data Files" TAB, the "file properties" is set to automatically grow. Under "file growth" it has "by percent" checked (which I don't want). I then check the "in megabytes" button, specify a value and click OK.
Why is it that later on when I look, the "by percent" is again checked? No one else is changing anything. Is there a bug or something?
Why does the "data file" auto-grow change (all by itself) from "in megabytes" to "by percent"?

It shouldn't change. Have you checked if the values are being set in the tables? Maybe the GUI is hosed.
There should be some script that resets values. I've had scripts before to check things and change them, though not auto grow.
In any case, does it matter? If you are managing space, you shouldn't depend on Auto Grow. Let it handle emergencies, not growth needs as normal changes occur.
