Where did Taskpad go?

  • I need to regularly check on the size of the database and transaction logs but I can't find Taskpad in SSMS! Has any one any idea where it is?

    Madame Artois

  • Sometimes you cannot see the wood for the trees.

    Thanks for the help

    Madame Artois

  • We don't have task pad in SSMs. We have to use SP_helpdb it will give the size of all the dabases. if you want further details then pass individual database to this SP.

I'm using 2k5 at sp2... and there's no "Summary" selection in the "View" menu... has anyone actually tried this?

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • I've noticed that they keep removing shortcuts as well (although I haven't gone to see if they're addable...), such as CTL + B in SQL 7 and 2000 to size the results pane, and CTL + SHIFT + L for lower case.

  • yep. its there in RTM.

  • It was there for me; I thought I was having a senior moment

    Madame Artois

  • Thanks folks... darned thing isn't there for me.

I belive it was changed in SP2.

Right click on the database, select Reports, Standard Reports.

The details are there albeit in several reports

Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.
    Anon.

  • p.s. SimonSabin has published a custom taskpad report on his blog at

Heh... and yet another useful, very well documented feature bites the dust.

    Thanks, David.
