Am I going mad?
Can anyone else replicate this, or even offer an explanation/solution?
When I type a closing bracket in SSMS 2008 (10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 )), it no longer flashes up the equivalent starting bracket. No matter what kind of bracket (,[,{
Have tried again in SSMS 2005 - it works here!

I have 1600.22 for my SSMS build and they highlight in gray here.

Steve - out of interest, what version of SQL is this connected to?
Just wondering if SMSS2008 features only work against a 2008 instance.
Trying to install a 2008 instance on my test machine now to test this theory.....

An update....but still no clearer!
Tried on my second PC - a new install of SSMS 2008 but still 1600.22
Against a 2008 instance
() - highlighted with grey backround
{} - didn't highlight
[] - didn't highlight
Against a 2005 instance - nothing highlighted!
Have raised feedback on Connect.

Another update.....
I have had a response on Connect
Thank you for reporting the problem. With SSMS 2008, brace matching feature is available. If you could navigate the cursor over the script using arrow keys, you would notice the braces highlighted. You may not see the highlight if you key in the script without a space after the bracket. This is due the way we currently parse the query on the client side.
I am marking this bug for consideration by the prodcut team for a future release of SQL Server.
I still don't get any highlighting if I 'navigate the cursor over the script', or if I key in the script WITH a space after the bracket. Ho hum!

Another update ... 7 months on....
have just updated SSMS to SQL2008 SP1 (10.0.2531.0), and now against a 2005 instance () highlight!
