Hi everyone,
Why is it that my backup size is twice as big as the restored database? What happens during restore that makes this to happen? Thanks.

Dp you perhaps have two or more backups in one file? If you backup to a file with an existing backup and don't use the WITH INIT option, the new backup is appended.

Tx GM, I can confirm that this is not the case. I made a fresh backup to a new file with the overwrite option. I then restored from that backup to another server.

What are the sizes that you are seeing? Include the sizes for the backup, all data files (mdf/ndf) and the log files (ldf).
