Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had anyt information on when microsoft will stop support for SQL 2005, this will allow me put a case forward for upgrading, finding justification etc.
Also, I have a feeling that Ms have not made enough money from SQL 2005 with the licences as a lot of things one could do with SQL 2005 Standard have now been moved onto SQL 2008 Enterprise.
Any ideas on this.

Interesting point. I agree that SQL Server 2005 Std. had a ton of features that used to be in Enterprise, but i'm not sure that they shifted this back to SQL 2008 Ent. Ed. because they didn't make enough money. There are still a ton of people on SQL Server 2000 who have never really used (or have seen) the features in SQL Server 2005! I go to clients all the time who have very large enterprise systems still on the old stuff, just now thinking about upgrading or migrating.

the hardware and license cost is probably not a lot compared to checking, rewriting or upgrading all the applications that hit SQL.
