Problem connecting to Reporting Services on Server 2008

  • When trying to connect from the console to reporting services using windows authentication I get the error "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. 192.168....:433 (System)" . Connection to a second machine works fine.

Troublesome server SQL 2005 on a Windows 2008 x64 server.

    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio9.00.3042.00

    Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools2005.090.3042.00

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm.080118-1840)

    Microsoft MSXML3.0 6.0

    Microsoft Internet Explorer7.0.6001.18000

    Microsoft .NET Framework2.0.50727.1434

    Operating System6.0.6001

Working second SQL server Server 2003 x64.

    Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio9.00.3042.00

    Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools2005.090.3042.00

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)2000.086.3959.00 (srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710)

    Microsoft MSXML2.6 3.0 4.0 6.0

    Microsoft Internet Explorer7.0.5730.13

    Microsoft .NET Framework2.0.50727.1433

    Operating System5.2.3790

The only difference I can see is the surface configuration tool has the Windows Integrated Authentication option greyed out. I have compared all other settings (sql, iis) and can't see any obvious differences. What am I missing something?

    Thanks

    Charles

  • You get this error because there is nothing listening on port 443 or it is blocked at a firewall level.

Have a read through this and make sure you have added a url:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630447.aspx

also check that the services are actually running and if your on a different machine check that there is no firewall in the way.
