hello,
We have a vendor product that we are looking to move from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. The vendor says the version we are on is not certified on 2005, and we are not ready to upgrade just yet. Due to some issues with the machine the SQL 2000 is on, we are looking to move the databases off 2000 and on to 2005. My question is, should we be able to do this, as long as we run the databases in the 80 compatibility level?
Please note we ARE checking with the vendor, as well, since the product has the ability to create DTS packages. This would obviously be a problem with 2005. If we can run in 80 compatibility mode, I will probably have to recreate the DTS packages in SSIS manually.
thanks...
Peter

There's a prior thread here somewhere about running in compatibility mode. In a nutshell, there are some issues with it.
Run the Upgrade Advisor against the database and see what it says as a first step.

I did a search of the forums and didn't find what I was looking for.
I will take a look at the Upgrade Advisor.
