Hi Folks,
I have done a profiler trace using the replay template on a sql 2000 production server and want to replay this on a 2005 development machine. First Question - can this be done?
If it can will the replay template effect my prod environment even if I replay this on my dev server? The reason why I ask is because there is a hostname field on the replay template which is referring to my prod database. Is there any good doco on this?

I'm not sure if this will work, but if you open the trace in Profiler 2005, I'd guess it would.
The trace is a series of statements and the replay just submits them to the server you point it to. The hostname captured in the trace has nothing to do with the connection. It is submitted by the client and not valid in any way. Any client could be configured to submit any hostname.
