SQL Server Agent Service is gone

    SQL SERVER AGENT services for two of the sql server 2000 instances were gone. What used to be on the Windows Services list disappeared, the sqlagent.dll and sqlagent.exe are still there. Does anyone know why and how to get the service back?? Tried to re-register the dll and exe with no luck, also tried to start job agent in service manager but it asked me to start the service first but the thing is there is no service to start from.

    Any suggestions?

    You can include the service manually by an exe instrsrv.exe, you can get it from the search. Since you say that you find the exe's available on the folder, and check if the related dlls too reside on the program files. Then include the service and try starting it.
