Hi, I just can't seem to get a straight answer on this.
I have a client who needs advanced reporting features with Dundas. I know Dundas comes with 2008, but I can't seem to find out if it's included in sql express 2008...

Express is free, why not try installing it and have it a go 🙂

That's the problem, I already have 2005 and 2008 enterprise installed here... don't wanna mess with the setup by installing yet another set of engines. Iw as hoping someone knew this answer withoutrisking 5 hours of install / reconfigure on a perfectly good dev machine. :w00t:

Well here's to plan B. I uploaded a RDL report in this message. If you have 2008 express installed, please see if you can deploy and see the report (it uses a Dundas object, so if you see something on the report, it most likely worked!).
You need to point your connection on msdb for the test to work!

The short answer is you need to wait for VS2010 to be in beta3 or RC because VS2008 ReportViewer control does not support local mode so you need SSRS running to use all those fancy Charts. You could test drive VS2010 in virtual PC if you must have them.
Kind regards,

So if I wanted to test those out with vs 2008 I'd need to built the report, then deploy, then go see them on the web (reportserver/reports/Dundasreport...). But it could be done now without waiting for the next VS?

Sorry I was just thinking out loud... yes that's exactly the way to do it. Also the reports must in server mode. In my case it's not a big deal, he shouldn't have to split task of rendering between machine with is relatevely low traffic.
Thanks Gift for the great link.
