DTS Migration wizard problems

  • I am bringing over some DTS procedures from sql2000. I installed the DTS import wizard on sql2005 and it runs, I can select procedures, and they process and all are marked 'succeeded'. According to the log, they have successfully imported, but they do not appear in the legacy DTS section (however if I manually export a DTS as a .dts file, and import it individually, it does appear)

I'd like to use the migration tool. What is going on?

  • I have the same problem when I migrated some DTS packages from SQL2000 to a SQL2008 box, those packages were reported being migrated successfully, but when I opened the Legacy => Data Transformation Services in Management Studio, I cannot see those packages apprear in the DTS tree. I even run a select statement in MSDB..sysdtspackages, supposedly those migrated packages should have been stored in there, but I found nothing. Just wonder anybody know why ?

    Thanks.

  • I don't know why, but I also had the same problem. I ended up exporting all the DTS pacakges to .dts files and then importing them into SQL 2005 by using Management Studio. I used DTSBackup2000 from SQLDTS.com http://www.sqldts.com/242.aspx to export all the packages from SQL 2000.
