I am trying to do an upsize from a desktop running XP and MS Access 07 to sql server 2008 on windows server 08.
All my OBDC tests work fine, but i keep getting the following error:
"error that SQL server version 6.5 or above is required whereas i am running SQL Server 10.00.1600"
Any ideas ?
Thanks

When are you getting this error? Was the upsizing process successful?

Ms Access, create new DB, database tools, sql server,
the error occurs on either new db or use existing db.
next, dsn name, sql server login, pw
the upsizing wizard only works with ms sql server version 6.50 sp5 or higher, please log in to a sql server data source.
I am using sql server 2008 or version 10
Thanks

What version of Access? Curious if you were to try this against a database server less than 2008 to see what would happen. You could always take the database and move it to the 2008 server once completed.
I'm wondering if Access (specifically the version that you are using) has a bug in trying to convert up to 2008. Another thought might be to create a database on 2008 and set the Compatibility Model to 2000 or 2005 and see what happens with that as well.

Access 2007

Well, I would recommend trying to a lower version of SQL Server and / or a database created on 2008 and set with a lower compatibility level. Just a thought. Other than that, sounds like a call to MS. 🙁

similarly, I too am having trouble getting Access 2008, 2005 or even 2000 to upsize from Access 2007... I was having the same issues and same errors, then after going from one mode to the other now I am getting ODBC called failed, no matter what I do...
HELP!

Have you tried the Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access...free download.
addendum:
I see there is a specific version for SQL 2008
SQL Server Migration Assistant 2008 for Access V4.0
Overview
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) 2008 for Access is a tool for migrating databases from Microsoft Access to Microsoft SQL Server 2008. SSMA for Access converts Access database objects to SQL Server database objects, loads those objects into SQL Server, and then migrates data from Access to SQL Server.
SSMA for Access supports Access 97 - Access 2007 databases.

SSMA for 2008 Works great. (2005 version didn't) Note: to install the program you will need to download a small lisence file and put it in the SSMA program directory.
Thanks for the Help. Cheers squeelers!
