According to todays SSC email, only today did we hit the true landmark of a million members in database terms, that is 1,024,000 members.
So if it takes 1KB to store data on each member Steves SSC database has finally hit the 1GB milestone!
more freebies? 🙂

OK, maybe just for George here for having a bit more wit than others.

George, send me a PM with your address and size, and I'll shoot you a shirt. Didn't think about the 1024, and I updated the nl!

May I object for a while... wouldn't the true million be at 1 megabyte... hence 1 048 576 bytes?
Seems like you're still a couple weeks early.

Okay, if we're going with the "binary million", then it's actually 1024 squared, which would be 1048576. That's the old "binary meg", as opposed to "decimal meg".
Hard drive manufacturers and OS designers always disagreed on which one was supposed to be used. Maybe they still do, I haven't paid much attention to it recently.

I knew someone would jump on this.............but too late, shirt offered and accepted 🙂
It was the 1,024 that jumped out at me:
how many bytes in a KB - 1,024
how many Kbytes in a MB - 1,024
how many mbytes in a GB - 1,024
the rest was artistic licence.
Monsieur Ninja, be ready to pounce when membership hits 1048756 (I agree a true GB but not as succinct).

No need to pounce, I already got me free shirt from ssc ;).
