Hi,
I have a subreport in my main report .The subreport has drill down.I have disabled the document map feature from my subreport.
When I export this report to excel..I get fully expanded subreport without drill down.
Is there any way to achieve the drilldown in subreport when i export it to excel without document map, as it is present in actual report .Its urgent.

Hi Bhushan,
How u doing? Well, I tried the issue which u have posted regd sub report exported to excel...See wat I observed is...everything is running perfect..except the export format in excel..
The thing is..whenever u'll export your main report which infact contains ur sub report too....u export it without expanding ur sub report..means..let the report remain intact and den export it...
It gives the un expanded format as u desire..here...
Bt neways...we do get collapse and expand option...beside...the report in excel format too..
I tried this..and its running fine...or may b I am not getting the point u r asking for...
Thanks alot,
Niraj

Hi Niraj,
I am fine.
The report which is displayed as subreport in main report contains the drill down in it.
The problem is that when i export the report as a subreport through main report to excel,
I get fully expanded subreport instead of drill down in subreport.
Can u tell me, the report which u were displaying in the subreport contains drill down?

Hi again...
Yes...Bhushan,
I tried d way which u exactly mentioned...means..d sub report which I am using right now...contains drill down and when at d very first, I am previewing the main report...it shows me the sub report embedded in it..with no drill downs..now..doing nothing..I am exporting this report to excel...and dere I am getting the same format...Main report with sub report (not drilled yet..)..Now I can drill down further with in my sub report and hence...I can drill back the same..
So..m unable to understand...why its not working dere..
neways...let me knw....u using 2005 / 2008...?? b'coz I m working on 2005...here....
Thanks,
Niraj

U dont have to set document map lebel in subreport.
U have to disable the document map from the report which is getting displayed as a subreport ?
This report (the report which is getting displayed as drill down) should contain drill down..

Please,I have used 4 levels of nested grouping in the report ( which getting displayed as subreport, in the main report).
In which 4th one is displayed on the toggling of 3rld level, while 3rd one is getting displayed on the 2nd level & 2nd on toggling of 1st level grouping.
U may find this very complicated

Yes...I am not disabling or enabling document Map in d report which is being displayed as a sub report...and it contains...drill down also...
So...its working here..buddy...

Yes buddy...I understood..that...d sub report...should contains drill downs and I have not set any properties...regd Document Map.
jst normally..I created a sub report as u have mentioned with multiple level drill downs and simply I am embedding it to the main report..
So..its working...dear..:)..
Bt this is sure...that may b...I am unable to understand ur requirement...

Can u explain what is "list" in ssrs toolbox..?how to use it? can i use it for displaying the subreport component?
January 28, 2009 at 12:59 am
Hi Bhushan...
I'll explain u a scenerio for using a List Cntrl..
See...suppose...I have a report with a Parameter such as Item Name...Now..I may select only a single or multiple item names to display my report...
Here...suppose if I select 2 items..my report will be displayed but when I'll export it to excel...it may appear on the same page...means details for 1st item and immediately details for 2nd item will get displayed...
But...my requirement is...to display multiple item details on different pages..like for 1st item...it should appear on 1st page..den for 2nd..it should appear on second page....means..page by page display...
Here I'll apply my LIST control...where in..I'll put my Main Report inside a List Control and set the group property of List Control with a field name appearing on the Main Report..now..I need to break my page..so as to display individual reports page by page...so..for that..I'll put a rectangle immediately after the List Cntrl and set page break property for this rectangle...
Now..my report is ready to display Page by page details..for selected Items...
So..LIST cntrl is nothing but is used to create Free Form reports and mean while..you may also use the same to display page by page details...as per the requirement I discussed above...bt then..again..its usage differs frm req to req...
In ur case, u may use to show Sub Report bt I guess..u need to keep ur main report also...with in the same List Control....(Sorry..not sure abt it...u need to try it once...yaar...)
I hope..u must have understood it...to an extent now....:)..
If u need any other help...do mesg me...
Thanks,
Niraj
