Not sure if this is the right place to ask:
I have RS2000 up and running looking at a SQL2000 db. A vendor developed apps has reports and they have said that we can modify/deploy these reports using RS2005.
I have installed RS2005 on another server and am trying to connect the 2000 db. On the configuration manager of RS2005, I try to connect to to 2000 server, it comes back up saying server does not exist. I know that the server is up and running. Not sure about the backward compatibility of 2005. I tries putting the IP address instead of name, does not work.
Is RS 2005 compatible with RS2000 db ?
What am I missing ?
All the servers run Win2k+3.

Rephrasing.
Need to install SSRS2005: report server only that will have to connect to an existing 2000 SSRS db.
My server has iis6, .NET 2.0
During installation I select named instance and give the server name where the 2000 report db is.
The installation completes, I am not able to configure , connect etc.
I tried uninstall and re-install fresh. Does not work.
