xp_readmail

  • I want to read EMAIL into SQL Server. I used to do this in SQL 2000 using SQLMAIL and xp_readmail. I looked up xp_readmail and discovered that it is being depricated. Does anyone know the preferred method for reading EMAIL in SQL 2005?

  • There isn't one. Not native anyway. Exchange can connect to SQL Server and feed stuff in there (or so I understand, haven't actually used that). I read on a Microsoft forum (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3618859&SiteId=1) that there would be a feature in SQL 2008 to do this, but I can't find one with a simple Google search. Not sure if it exists or not.

Keep using the code you're using for now, and beat on MS for the feature you want.
