Hi
For the last few days my scheduled packages have failed to run, giving the following error:
"Executed as user: SERVER\Administrator. The process could not be created for step 1 of job 0x8FAF... (reason: The system cannot find the file specified). The step failed."
Lots of googling got me to this webpage (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q322746) which seems to be the one with all the answers. The workaround works around as it should, but I am worried about what else might go wrong because the result of xp_cmdshell 'path' is indeed null. Stopped and restarted SQL Server, and restarted the server itself, and all to no avail - the path is still not there.
Questions:
1. Do I need to worry?
2. If it is a problem, can I fix it some other way?
thanks

Hello Lidia,
I would try to analyse why previously working jobs suddenly started failing. Did anything change on the server e.g. a Service Pack was applied? Was the Account under which the SQL Agent runs changed at all?
I guess from the job history you can tell exactly when it started failing, and that should help you track down the cause.
