Hi All,
I have couple questions regarding the transaction log backup.
Method 1:
There are 20 databases and if we schedule the log backups to run every 15 mins, then the every 15 mins log backup of 20 databases will have to go into a different folder. Let say log backup started at 8am.
folder 8am->inside log backups of 20 databases
folder 8:15am->inside logbackups of 20 databases
folder 8:30->inside logbackups of 20 databases
so on....
(or)
Method 2:
will all the log backups of 20 databases (log backup job runs every 15 mins)goes to folder like 'LogBackups'
I would like to know which method generally people use? and plz advice me the best way?
Could you plz provide some script that works for Method1...
Thanks
Madhu

Method 2 (backup to same folder) is better as it is easy to manage.

If you're using maintenace plans (and I know some folks detest them!!), you can automate the cleanup process, so from a maintenance perspective, there really isn't much to do. From a backup perspective, it's really your choice of organization, I do one file per databse but all in the same folder but the option to have one folder per database is also there. What's YOUR preference? The best thing is that you are actually performing the tasks.
