I definitely need to write up a few summaries about last week, but right now I'm a bit buried with things.

I really enjoyed the Summit and it's become an annual event for me. Other than the 2000-2001 time frame with a new baby and changing jobs, I've attended the rest of the Summits, starting in 1999 and then the rest since 2002. Starting with 2002, SQLServerCentral has hosted some sort of reception party, and I think we've gotten better at it.

For me the Summit was initially about learning, but over the last 5 years it's been a working event for me. The chance to try and grow the SQLServerCentral community, meet people, and find out what's on the minds of those people out there actually working with SQL Server. That's good and bad, and it's made it a long week for me.

This past Summit, I decided to not worry about getting too much information and instead just try and talk with people during the week. So I planned to hang out in the lobbies and hallways, taking time to meet with people. I did get to do some of that, but feeling a bit under the weather on Tues/Wed meant I didn't get a lot of that done and then I left early on Fri. After 8 days in Seattle, I needed to get home.

Still it was another fun event and I got to meet quite a few people from the site that I'd never met before. Add to that getting thrown around an Aikido mat by Gail Shaw and Kalen Delaney and it was a great week.
