im playing with reporting services for the first time. each time i try to visit the reporting services site i have configured via the reporting services manager my pc spends absolutely ages loading the site ( its currently loading the page for 30 mins now with no error message.
I have no idea whats wrong. here are the configuration steps i went through:
1.In reporting manager, Report Server Virtual Directory, I created a virtual directory called ReportServer1 , and selected the Default web site.
2. In reporting manager, Report manager virtual directory, i created a virtual directory called ReportsVD, and selected the default website.
3.In Windows Service Identy, i have configured it as : ServiceName: ReportServer, Service Account: NT Authority\Network Service. Built In Account, and Network Service.
4.In the web service identity part of reporting manager, its configured as ASP.NET ServiceAccount: NT Authority\Network Service, and both app pools are set to class .net app pool (tried default app pool but doesnt work either).
5. In Database Setup i have created a database called ReportServerTest.
I have added my windows login account to the sql server reporting groups and i am a sysadmin on the sql server.
I have modified the RSWebApplicatioin to point to the folders created in the above steps:
Reporting Service is running. I cannot see what is wrong here. anyone any ideas?

And you are trying to connect to http:\\localhost\reports? What are you seeing if you try to connect to http:\\localhost\reportserver?
When I have problems like you are describing I delete the reports and reportserver sub webs, delete the reporting services databases, and run through the RS configuration tool from scratch using all defaults including the app pool. Usually takes care of it.
One other thing, make sure that you are using a the default web site to have RS build the sub webs to. There are other caveats when using the non-default web site.

same thing happens when i try to connect to localhost. ( im using http://localhost/reportsvd/Pages/Folder.aspx , as i configured the reporting manager virtual directory to be reportsVD).
how do you delete the reportserver sub webs? im sure this is a basic question but im new to this. thanks

You should be able to browse them in IIS, right click my computer, manage, expand services and applications and you should see IIS in there. Expand that to find default web site and then delete the folders with the reporting services sites that you specified.
Don't worry about being new to this. I am by no means an expert, good at deleting and running through the wizard though. 😀
Hopefully this will help get you going.

i havnt gotten time to try your suggested fix, however im at work today and on my work pc, reporting services runs without any problems.
could it be due to my home pc having sql 2005 and sql 2008 installed?
