Thank You All

  • Everyone,

I've been a member of SQLServerCentral.com for a few months now and I must say I have learned a great deal in those few months. I have posted only a few questions, but you all have answered many more with other posts when I took the time to search. This website shows up on Google frequently when I search anything SQL Server (makes you wonder why I bother with Google and just come here first!).

    The newsletters are great!

So with that, thank all of you for your help and assistance. And also, a BIG TIP O' THE HAT to those who fund and run this expensive website.

    Regards,

    JamesNT

  • Thanks for the note, and I'm sure everyone at Red Gate and in the community appreciate your thanks. We try to help.

    Steve

  • What a cool thing to say, James. 🙂

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

That kind of comment is what makes it all worthwhile.

  • I have to second James' thanks, and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same and just don't say it enough. With the knowledge I've gained here at SQLServerCentral, I've gone from (December 2007) a guy who didn't know how to join tables at all and wouldn't have been able to use a subquery or derived table to save his life to (September 2008) the "star of [my] team" (quoted from a regional director), and have been unanimously elected the sole Analyst level (non-management) representative in our Enterprise-wide (11 states in the US) Analyst Forum Steering Committee.

I owe you all a great big thanks, sorry James beat me to it!:D

  • A very hearty congratulations! This is really cool feedback and you need to be very proud of yourself, as well! Yes, the information is here and there are some great people here, but it was YOU that took the time to feret out and apply the knowledge. You owe yourself a very big pat on the back. 🙂

  • Pretty awesome.

Glad you get so much out of the site. It is the coolest site on the web for SQL Server resources. I've been around here for 7 years now and this is the site I generally alway come back to. Lots of good content and fellow DBA's to answer questions. I should really try and make some more time to answer more posts though!

  • Thanks and congratulations too!

I think that most of us are not doing it for the praise, but it is always nice to know when we are having a positive effect. 🙂
