I'm playing around with the maintenanceplan editor/creator and try to find how I can create a backup for a transactionlog. When I look at the SQL after creating a Plan I cannot see anything which indicates a backup of the transactionlog. WHen I look in the DIR where the backup is created, I only see 1 file, which I presume is the databasefile...
I cannot find an option in the Backup Database Task to backup ALSO or even ONLY the T-log. I see no other task in the toolbar to backup or even truncate the T-log.
Ofcourse, I can write the SQL and add an SQL Task to the Plan, but that's not why I wish to create a Maintenance Plan.
So, do I miss something here?

Found it. It seems I need to create a NEW Backup Database Task and then choose Transaction log as a backup type. Confusing, but that's what you get when you create a new GUI.

Hi,
If you're using the wizard to create the maintenance plan select the database and then click next after you have clicked 5 times next you get to the page where you can set up your log backup.
Hope that helps.

Hi Holger, tnx for responding.
I am confused, however. I can not see a Maintenance Wizard as you describe. We ARE talking about SQL Server 2005, right?
EDIT:
Found it, sorry...
