I have two servers, SQL00 and SQL01B, and both have pull subscriptions running from SQL20, with SQL20 as the distributor. I would like to remove SQL00, the current production server, from service and rename SQL01B to SQL00. Has anybody done this sort of change or know if I should anticipate any issues? I want to avoid reintializing the newly renamed SQL00. Thanks.

I never performed exactly what you're doing but I have renamed a computer that was a merge replication subscriber. The subscriber would connect to the publisher but never never saw that is was added to the publication. Even after removing the subscriber from publication and the subscription from the subscriber. Then readding them both back, I ended up having the uninstall SQL express, remove the SQL folders in the Program Files, and then reinstall SQL Express to get it to work.
