Failed to retrieve operator 3

    SQL Server 2005 restarted, and the only visible error on the logs are the following:

    (These errors are from Sql Agent log)

    Error,[252] Failed to retrieve operator 3 from the server

    Error,[359] The local host server is not running

    The server then restarted. Any ideas?

    Haven't seen the error, but I'm amazed it would restart the server. Did the SQL Server instance restart or was it Windows? Or SQLAgent?

    I'd probably call Microsoft on this one.

    The sql log shows that Sql Server actually restarted. The next entries just show the normal load steps from SQL.

    items in the log:

    Information,[098] SQLServerAgent terminated (normally)

    Agent shouldn't restart SQL Server. If it is, I'd call MS. Perhaps keep an eye on it to be sure it wasn't coincidence.
